PREGNANT!!!!!
Liz and I are going to be Parents!!!!!!!!
Liz is 12 weeks pregnant. She is due on Dec. 4th. I am going to be a dad! A real DAD.
So… here is the question:
Brown baby or white baby? Red hair or dark hair? What do you think? Will the baby speak Spanish or English?
DEC. 4th – be praying for us.
As followers of Jesus Christ what are we to do or believe in light of our nation being in 2 wars right now. I have my opinions and my beliefs. What do you think?
I read on Greg Boyd’s blog about a top secret slideshow that the Bush admin. had concerning the wars and faith. Check it out here. ( who would have thought we would be going to GQ for this kind of info.?)
So what do you think? War & Christ follower? What does that look like? Where is the line? Are we God’s special chosen Nation?
Here are some old blogs I posted concerning this issue.
Ok, so maybe I am not so creative, and I just repost things that 100 other people have already posted. My buddies Nick and Joel are the type of guys that find the diamonds in the rough type videos. I am the guy who goes onto youtube and looks under the most viewed section and starts browsing through videos. I have to say that this video I found is AWESOME. It is from the show “Britains Got Talent”. I have recently become a fan of this show because they have some awesome entertainers. I watched this video and was amazed for several reasons. 1. Simon seems like a likable guy on this show 2) the dancing is incredible and 30 this kids smile is super contagious. If you are one of the 1.25 million people to already view this video then I am sorry, but if your not…. then enjoy.
So I am in a bit of pickle. So my wife and I bought a house 3 years ago. We paid x amount of money on it. Now our house is worth (x- 70,000 ish) So we have lost our butts on the house so far. We are making our payments just fine. But then there is this thought that if we were to short sale our house, we could have an opportunity to move into a different house, that is “better” and much cheaper. So… we save money (thousands) by getting into a house at the current value, we get a newer bigger house. Here is my dilemma: 1) is this ethical? 2) is it possible? 3) why would the bank do this? 4) is it smart?
If you know anything about the housing market, short sales, ethics about this issue, then please chime in. I am open to opinions and facts!
Here are my top 10 80’s movies. I may have some bogus choices on here for you, but for me they helped shape who I am! (that might be a stretch, but just go with it)
10. Young Guns ( you gotta be handy with the steel if you know what I mean, earn your keep)
9. Fast Times @ Ridgemont High – Spikoly
8. Good Morning Vietnam – one of the funniest movies I have seen. Robin Williams did most of his dialogue in improv
7. Batman – classic
6. The Breakfast Club – cult classic and for good reason
5. Back to the Future – “McFly”
4. Karate Kid – Daniel Son – best martial arts movie ever made!!!
3. Big – Every kid wanted to be like Josh and have their own Manhattan apartment.
2. The Wizard – “the power glove, I love the power glove” – one of the best all-time movie quotes
1…. Top Gun – i know, too cliche, but I love this movie, no 80’s movie list would be complete without Top Gun, it just happens to be my favorite
What am I missing that is on your list? What movie do you see on mine that is ridiculous?

I have been working at Superstition Springs Community Church for about 3 months now as the 5th and 6th grade Director. I have loved being on staff at a place with such dynamic people and dynamic leaders. Over the past 3 months I have grown a lot as a person and as a leader in a ministry position. I came into this job knowing that there was a great team of leaders in place, and knowing that I would like to be on staff at a place like this for an extended period of time. What I didn’t expect was that God would be opening the doors up for me to move into a new position so quickly. BUT…
He did. I am now the new Jr. High Pastor at SSCC (soon to be MissionCommunityChurch)!!! I have this overwhelming sense of gratitude and excitement to be in this position, and… I also have this feeling of timidity and anxiety. The job of leading students can be challenging at times, frustrating, and taxing, but the payoff is so much greater than any of those things. I get to teach students about Jesus!!! I get to develop relationships with students and leaders that will hopefully turn out to be lifelong relationships. I get to see students make some seriously big decisions in their lives, and hopefully steer them in a different direction than I did. I love this job. This is what I was created to do.
I am sorry… maybe I am too cynical… but do we need a “National Day of Prayer”?
What are we supposed to do today that is different from any other day?
This article asks a similar question.
What do you think? Should this be a big deal?
ok, so I have to admit that I was totally eavesdropping on a conversation this morning at Starbucks. Through eavesdropping I heard a conversation that was a little disturbing.
I overheard 2 guys talking, and it dawned on me that they are a part of the same local body (church) that I am. The conversation was steered toward 2 causes that we support. The rub comes when one guy was upset that we seem to support one cause more than the other. This may be true, but I don’t see it. BUT… the point is that both causes are doing GREAT things in the lives of broken and hurting people.
There is always someone that is upset. Always someone that can’t see the bigger picture. Always someone that is missing the good by focusing on the bad (or in this case not even the bad, but on their personal desires).
Sorry, but when I overheard his frustrations I couldn’t help but be bothered by the fact that he was missing the point completely. grrrrrrrrr…..
