Sweet Saturday

March 9, 2008

Today has been a great day.  My wife and I began the day by waking up and going to starbucks early this morning. Not that starbucks is anything special, but it is nice to be able to get up and go to the coffee shop and have a nice cup of coffee.  After that we went and served the homeless in downtown Phoenix with some of the youth group. That is always an experience, but this time we didn’t see our regulars. We love talking to Greg and Patsy and whoever is with them.

After this Liz and I went to Red Brick Pizza and had a delicious pizza. (I always feel weird going out to eat after our homeless experience)

Then we cruised down to Tempe. We were hoping to go down by the lake and throw the frisbee around, but the Arizona Beer Festival was going on so we decided to head into the campus of ASU (GO DEVILS!!!). We ended up chillin at the lawn over the Hayden Library and throwing the frisbee around. After some sweet action with the frisbee we went and lye in the lawn and read our books. It was a super cool experience being able to do that and just chill.

Then we went to my parents house and parked the car and walked down to the Pub n Grub. Only the best hole in the wall bar in the states. Seriously this bar is pretty sweet. We played six games of pool, sadly I had to win the last 3 games just to pull even. None-the-less we always enjoy the pub, or I should say I always enjoy the pub. (I have a suspicion that they changed their burgers, which is a bad thing)

This was a great day. Now we are off to my buddy Mookies going away party.  Sad to see him go, but happy for the cool things that are going on in his and his wife’s life.

Hopefully next Saturday will be like this.

Ahhhhh… life before kids. Hopefully you won’t have any kids by next Saturday.

Even if there is a “Pub” in the name, there are no proper pubs in Arizona. The only two I have seen are The Ould Sod in San Diego, and one in Boston.

Seriously, you have a friend named Mookie? That’s awesome. I always wanted to utter the phrase, “Me and my friend Mookie….” Man, would that make life sweet.

I’m gonna go ahead and say that unless its in England or you are English, its not a pub.

The “PUB” n grub is the best PUB i’ve been to. I’ll back ya up on this one, it’s a pub. A public house, usually known as a pub, is an ESTABLISHMENT which serves alcoholic drinks — ESPECIALLY BEER — for consumption on the premises, usually in a COMFORTABLE SETTING. Pubs originated in English-speaking countries, particularly in the United Kingdom and Ireland and are now found globally (especially in Arizona).
Ok so I added the Arizona part. But they do have the coldest beer in Arizona!
