Being Ethans Dad

July 21, 2010

Daa-daa. Daa-daa. Daa-daa.

These are words uttered nearly every morning by my son. Still not sure that he understands that Daa-daa is me, but never the less he says it. And I eat it up. I love it when Ethan talks, even if it is just noises. He has just figured out how to make the tongue sticking out and blowing noise. It is super cute.

There are countless experiences that I have had with Ethan in the last 7 months that will forever be etched into my mind. My dad kept telling me how excited he was for me to be a dad, and now I know why. Nothing better.

So here are some cool things from E lately. Yesterday morning I went and grabbed him out of his crib, changed his diaper, and brought him into our room. As soon as I walked through our door he started laughing, and kind of clapping his hands. See, Ethan is still nursing half of his meals. So he saw Momma, and he knew what was coming. Breakfast!!! So I took him and laid him on my chest while Liz had her back to us. Then E started reaching for Momma, with a little whimper. I picture him thinking “Hey, I know what is coming, why are we delaying? Let’s do this”. As soon as Liz turned over, E started laughing, and had the BIGGEST smile. I almost lost it.

He is almost 7 1/2 months now. He is scooting. He is talking. He is laughing a bunch. He loves his Mommy, and he laughs a ton with his Daddy. He hates peas (mom insist on giving them to him, I hate peas too), he loves peaches, pears, and apples. He eats rice cereal like it’s his job. He loves morning time. He wakes up at least once a night still. He knows how to turn the pages of books. He loves him some bath time, and the pool.

So… this post may have been more for Liz and I to look back on, but it is an update for anyone who is interested.

Your kid freakin’ rocks. Hearing “daa daa” has got to be a highlight of every dad’s day.
